This stunning juban (kimono undergarment) is probably from the late Taisho (1912-1926) to the early Showa ((1926-1988) era. This juban was made for wedding use, because you see a number of large cranes flying all over the juban for auspicious reasons. The juban is made from fine, lightweight damask silk. The main color on the juban is Japanese red, which has an orange tone, and the cranes are shown in relatively subtle monotones. It is lined with red silk and the collar is covered with textured white silk. It is in excellent condition.
