This elegant formal kimono (called Irotomesode) is from the early 1900's. The kimono is made from fine chirimen silk and it has stunning floral and abstract designs toward the bottom. The dye technique is called Kaga Yuzen and this kimono shows the typical Kaga Yuzen gradation technique around the design. The design was executed by hand painting. The design also has a minimum amount of hand embroidery. The dominant colors you see on this kimono are gingko yellow, peach, sage, tea green, lavender, pink, and so forth against the purple background. The kimono is fully lined with red silk fabric. There are five family crests on the front and the back of the kimono. It is in excellent condition.
