This graceful formal tomesode kimono is probably from the early 1900s. The kimono is made from the chirimen silk and it depicts almost symmetrical design of a pair of phoenixes flying over pine trees and the ocean at the bottom. The entire design on the kimono was executed by Kaga Yuzen hand-painting technique, and it also has a minimum amount of embroidery on the design. The main colors you find on this kimono are different shades of grays, blue-green, peach-brown, ivory, and brick orange against the black background. You also find color gradations around the design, which is a typical Kaga Yuzen character. The kimono has a red lining and has five family crests in the front and the back. It is in excellent condition. The dimensions are:
Width (Sleeve to Sleeve): approximately 49"
Length: approximately 59.5"
Sleeve Length: approximately 23"
Body Width: approximately 20.5"
