This lovely formal tomesode kimono is probably from the early 1900's. The kimono is made from fine chirimen silk and it depicts large court carriages (gosho-guruma) and floral designs around them. These beautiful designs on the kimono were executed by Kyoto Yuzen hand-painting technique and each design was outlined by gold dye, which is typically seen in Kyoto Yuzen. The dominant colors you see on the kimono are peach, dusty pink, plum, tea green, aqua blue, green, and blue against the black background. The kimono has a red lining. There are five family crests in the front and the back of the kimono. It has some almost invisible spots due to the age; otherwise the kimono is in excellent condition. The dimensions are:
Width (Sleeve to Sleeve): approximately 45"
Length: approximately 61"
Sleeve Length: approximately 20.5"
Body Width: approximately 22"
