This stunning formal tomesode kimono is probably from the early 1900s. The kimono is made from fine chirimen silk and it depicts a dynamic design of three treasure-boats (takara-bune) in the ocean. This stunning design on the kimono was executed by Kyoto Yuzen hand-painting technique. The dominant colors you see on the kimono are orange, peach, sage, blue, taupe, olive, blue, purple, and so forth against the black background. There is some hand embroidery in gold (relatively thicker thread) on the design. Some of those threads are loosen due to the age. The kimono has an ivory lining (the sleeves have a red lining) and it has five family crests in the front and the back. There are some spots due to the age; otherwise it is in excellent condition. This particular tomesode is truly a rare piece. The dimensions are:
Width (Sleeve to Sleeve): approximately 47"
Length: approximately 64.5"
Sleeve Length: approximately 21.5"
Body Width: approximately 22"
