This striking maru obi is probably the early 1900s. The obi was made from silk and used authentic gold (attached to silk threads). The obi shows a dynamic design of pine trees along with pinecones and an intricate floral design in the background. The colors you find on the obi are gold, light and dark green, and red-dark-brown. This obi was thought to be worn by an entertainer (a musician, a theatrical actress, a traditional Japanese dancer, or so forth). Regardless it is a rare type of obi and in excellent condition.
